Attentive Hires Globally With Clear Guidance

Pebl’s employer of record and immigration service enabled a Portugal relocation and a Canada hire, with country-specific benefits guidance and responsive communication.

At a glance

  • Portugal relocation via Global Immigration.
  • Portugal benefits requirements clarified.
  • Canada hire confirms repeatable path.

Overview

Attentive is a leader in conversational commerce, powering two-way, SMS-first customer engagement for 8,000+ brands and driving billions in e-commerce revenue. After going remote during COVID-19 and acquiring a startup that already partnered with Pebl, they had a path to hire wherever talent lived—and needed expert support to expand hiring while navigating country-specific rules and benefits.

Challenge

Following the 2021 acquisition, Attentive needed to act quickly on two fronts: retain a senior employee relocating to Portugal and continue hiring across borders. The HR lead managing 1,000+ employees required clear answers on immigration, labor law, and benefits—within a fixed budget. Specific complexities included Portugal’s mandatory allowances and bonuses, plus understanding Canadian benefit differences and vacation accrual by province. They needed a partner to provide itemized, budget-fit options and stay high-touch as decisions moved forward.

Solution

Attentive worked with Pebl as their employer of record (EOR) and for global immigration. The team delivered detailed, line-item quotes and reworked them until costs aligned with a preset budget. A named relationship manager kept communication responsive—switching to calls when email wasn’t enough—and provided practical, country-specific guidance: Portugal allowances (including 13th/14th-month pay) and Canadian nuances such as RRSP vs. 401(k) and province-level vacation accrual. With immigration complete, Pebl provided ongoing payroll, benefits, and HR support via EOR.

Pebl’s service is very high-touch. Whenever we need to hire internationally, we know we’ll be taken care of. I would without hesitation recommend Pebl to other companies looking to relocate talent or hire across the world.

Outcome

Pebl relocated the senior employee to Portugal, then supported a Canada hire—giving Attentive a repeatable path to add talent across markets. Benefits experts implemented country-specific requirements (13th/14th-month pay, work-from-home stipends) and clarified Canadian RRSP vs. U.S. 401(k) and province-specific vacation accruals. High-touch communication kept stakeholders informed throughout, reinforcing confidence that Attentive can hire quickly and manage ongoing payroll, benefits, and HR support wherever the best candidates are found.
